Playwright, writer, director, actor Je’ McClain teams up with film director and producer Don Armstrong to bring the inspirational stage play The Lies They Told with twist and turns that only a full length feature film can provide. “The Lies They Told” features an all-star cast, including Detroit’s own Zanye’, Tasha Paige Lockhart (Sundays Best Winner) and Carl Anthony Payne II from the hit T.V. sitcom “Martin.” We sat down with Carl Anthony Payne II to Break for Five.Michigan Chronicle: What’s new with you?
Carl Anthony Payne II: I’ve recently moved to Atlanta and started my own production company. I also teach acting comedy and improv to students ranging from the age of 10 and up.
MC: What Inspires you?
CAP: My children and the thought of legacy. Leaving something behind other than bad credit. LOL.
MC: What’s one thing you wished people knew about you?
CAP: The one thing that I wish or want people to know about me is excelling in my craft and opening/breaking down doors/barriers that would otherwise prevent someone from achieving their goals and dreams.
MC: What’s your thoughts on Detroit?
CAP: I hope that the city recovers and is restored to its glory. I used to frequent Detroit a lot back in the day, and I want that old thang back. LOL.
MC: What can we expect from this play and your character?
CAP: The same level of commitment I approach any of my roles with, which means I’m gonna kill it. LOL.
