Terra DeFoe, faith based/
senior citizen liaison
DeFoe spent the last three years working in state government in several capacities, and joins Mayor Dave Bing’s administration to serve the faith based and senior citizen constituencies. Most recently, she served as district director for State Sen. Tupac Hunter. In 2007, she was voted as the first woman to serve as executive director for the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. She is a member of International Gospel Center, where she is ordained minister. She is currently completing her bachelor of arts degree from Davenport University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Family Counseling from Harvest University.
Benny White, youth liaison
White is a lifelong youth advocate for the city of Detroit, and brings more than 15 years of experience working with youth and youth development to the Bing administration. He served as assistant coach of men’s basketball teams for several schools, including Albion College, San Jose State and the University of Detroit Mercy. Most recently, he was head coach for the boy’s basketball team at Martin Luther King High School. In 2007, he was chosen as a Detroit Public Schools League Coach of the Year. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Development. He is responsible for outreach to youth advocacy groups on behalf of Mayor Bing.
Steven Stallworth, director,
311 Call Center
Stallworth joins Mayor Dave Bing’s administration after spending 30 years dedicated to customer service in the public and private sector. Most recently, he served as program manager for Strategic Staffing Solutions, where he managed a budget of approximately $50 million. He also served as deputy director of Neighborhood City Halls under Mayor Dennis Archer, and as at Unisys Corporation where he served as Information Security manager, Customer Service supervisor and employment specialist. He is charged with developing the best practices to deliver optimum customer service to Detroiters utilizing the 311 Call System. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Mercy College of Detroit.
