During her Saturday concert in Detroit, Beyonce took time to give the city a powerful tribute during its time of crisis.
During her show, the 31-year-old diva performed a cover of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and dedicated it to the Motor City, which filed for bankruptcy last week.
As she performed, the big screen behind her played a video montage that included Detroit landmarks and icons such as Aretha Franklin, Aaliyah, Eminem, Anita Baker, Kid Rock, and Berry Gordy, Jr. The video ended with the declaration, “Nothing Stops Detroit.”
“This was a unique tribute to the history of an incredible city and a celebration of the strong spirit of its people,” Beyonce’s spokesperson told Billboard.
