The 11th Annual Giving Tour visited Detroit on Dec. 10 with lots of toys and goodies.
The Compound Foundation in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of America and local contributors such as, Blackwood Credit Services, passed out hundreds of gifts to children between the of ages 3 – 18.
The Compound Foundation is a national organization founded in 2007 by Shaffer “Ne-Yo” Smith and partner Reynell Hay to enhance the well-being of youth growing up in foster care and group homes. Founder, Ne-Yo. his mother, Chair President, Loraine Smith and his sister recording artist Nikki Loriane spent time with youth from Detroit’s inner city to pass out toys and autographed photos.
Youth in attendance also cheered with joy as Atlanta based artist Nikki Loriane performed “Monster Mash” produced by DCross to a packed auditorium at the Boys & Girls Club on Detroit’s Westside.

“The Giving Tour is about showing children that no matter the circumstance somebody out there cares. We are only as good as the way we treat our children,” says Ne –Yo, who is expecting the arrival of his third child and preparing to get married.
The Compound Foundation uses statistics and other factors from cities across America to decide where to take the Giving Tour each year
This year Detroit kids were on Ne-Yo’s gift list.
