Allen Park Starbucks Workers Join National Strike

The staff at the Allen Park Starbucks joined their fellow workers this past Wednesday in a national strike against the food company.

The Detroit Free Press reported the workers protested for better work conditions, such as hiring more employees, and against “the company not bargaining a contract in good faith.”

These action are taking place in the midst of Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz stepping down before he testifies in front of the U.S. Senate about the company’s labor practices, according to the Free Press.

Relatedly, the publication stated a federal judge in Detroit “granted a national cease-and-desist order against Starbucks in February and mandated that the company rehires an unlawfully fired Ann Arbor employee, following an injunction issued by the National Labor Relations Board in Detroit.”
