Detroit Firefighters Engine 40 Foundation hosts 18th annual Back 2 School Bash

The Engine 40 Foundation is set to host its 18th Annual Back 2 School Bash on August 27^th, 2016 from 12-5 pm at the Detroit Fire Department at 1939 Dexter Detroit, MI.
This annual event provides local children an opportunity of a day of fun and to receive essential school supplies to ensure a successful start of their school year. “As firefighters we have a duty not to only save lives but give back to the communities we serve,” says Christopher Sumrall, retired firefighter and organizer of the event. “I believe we accomplish all of this at this event, its great to see the smiles on the kids faces every year.”
Highlights of the Back 2 School Bash include: We were also able to raffle away several bicycles as well as provide live entertainment by some of Detroit’s most popular artists. Some of the day’s highlights were a dunk tank, stilt walkers, street dancers, exotic animal show, horseback rides, extrication demonstrations, high angle rescue thrill team, clowns, face painting, free haircuts, and much more. On top of all the excitement and entertainment children leave with a backpack full of supplies. Engine 40 also focuses on health and wellness as they provide; free health and dental screenings, free food, home fire safety planning, and lifesaving CPR training.
