MOST CITY OF DETROIT OFFICES TO CLOSE FOR HOLIDAYS
Many City of Detroit offices will be closed beginning December 22, 2014 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays and reopen on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. Normal police, fire, bus, lighting, airport and water/sewerage services will be provided. These offices are open:

 The Department of Public Works (DPW) will collect refuse, recycling and bulk items as scheduled on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. However, the City will NOT collect on Thursday, Dec. 25 and January 1. During both weeks, crews will collect refuse, recycling and bulk items one day later. Thursday’s collection will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday.
 The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) will operate bus service on Christmas and New Year’s Day as a Sunday schedule. Regular weekday bus service will be provided on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
 The Detroit People Mover will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Trains will operate on New Year’s Eve from 2 p.m. – 3 a.m. Normal service will resume on Friday, January 2.
