After a disappointing loss to MAC Conference and in-state Central Michigan, the Michigan Wolverines (9-5) regrouped and won two games against Big Ten Conference foes Maryland and Penn State over the past week.  This gave the Michigan basketball team a 3-0 Big Ten Conference record (they beat Minnesota earlier in December) as they now prepare to take on in-state rival Michigan State (10-4).

As usual, when it comes to playing a rival, the game against the Spartans won’t be an easy for the Wolverines.  Not only is the game being played in E. Lansing, Michigan State is also on a five game winning streak that Michigan will hope to break.

MSU is expected to have a full roster with the return of Forward Malik Hall from injury, however Michigan will be missing its Point Guard Jaelin Llewellyn, who was starting up until his injury against Kentucky on December 4th. Since his absence, Freshman Dug McDaniel has played well, averaging 9.8 points, 4.2 assists, and just under 2 turnovers per game. McDaniel will have to have a solid game both on offense and defense for the Wolverines to pull off the win.

The first of two games between the two Universities this season will be this Saturday and start at 2:30pm EST at the Breslin Center in E. Lansing.
