The #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines scored 52 unanswered points to keep their undefeated season in tact against the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon.  On a rainy day before a crowd of over 110,000, it appeared the Maize and Blue might have a long day ahead as they fell behind to the Hoosiers early in the game. With 2:25 left in the first quarter, Indiana ran a trick play with Quarterback Brendan Sorsby passing the ball behind the line of scrimmage over to Donaven McCulley who then threw the ball downfield to an open Jaylin Lucas making it 7-0 Hoosiers.

Was Michigan caught off guard looking past Indiana to next week’s in-state rivalry game against Michigan State? Or was it just another case of the Wolverines starting off slow as they had done in other games this season. Either way, the Indiana lead didn’t last long as Michigan would score on their next drive going 77 yards to even the score at 7-7 behind a Blake Corum 1 yard touchdown run. The Wolverines then added another two touchdowns before the end of the first half to go into the locker room up 21-7.

The second half was all Michigan as they displayed why they are the nation’s number two team with one of college football’s best defenses.  Holding the Hoosiers to under 100 yards of total offense and forcing three turnovers in the second half (four in the game), Michigan overpowered Indiana en route to a 52-7 final score.

Quarterback J.J. McCarthy had another highly effective game throwing 14 completions on 17 attempts with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. McCarthy had 249 yards of total offense. Reserve Wolverine Running Back Benjamin Hall led all rushers in the game with 58 rushing yards. Blake Corum added to his season touchdown total with two in the game while Donovan Edwards rushed for his first touchdown of the season.

On Defense, Michigan was led by Linebacker Junior Colson who tallied six tackles on the day.  But it was the effort of the entire defense to force turnovers (4) and come up with stops that made a difference.

Michigan (7-0) will head to E. Lansing next week to take on the Michigan State Spartans (2-4).  Indiana (2-4) will host the Rutgers Scarlett Knights (5-2) in their next game.

Final Score: 52-7
