Kylee Mitchell Wells

Kylee Mitchell Wells is the founding Executive Director of Ballmer Group’s Southeast Michigan office, where she spearheads the organization’s philanthropic efforts in the region. Under her guidance, Ballmer Group has invested over $330 million to date across the tri-county area, fostering impactful change in local communities.

Before joining Ballmer Group, Kylee served as the founding Senior Director at Enterprise Community Partners’ Michigan office, a national nonprofit. In this role, she developed strategies for capital deployment, program implementation, and policy advocacy aimed at addressing housing needs in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods throughout Michigan.

Earlier in her career, Kylee worked as an appointee in the City of Detroit’s Office of Grants Management, where she oversaw the strategic allocation, timely expenditure, and compliance of $185 million in federal grants. She began her work with the city as a management consultant at Conway MacKenzie, assisting with Detroit’s financial restructuring during the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. Her focus was on streamlining financial processes and improving operations within the Planning and Development Department.

Kylee also served as a Program Officer for Financial Stability at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she managed sector-based workforce partnerships and oversaw the strategic investment of a $10 million philanthropic fund. Additionally, she was a Program Director in Washington, D.C., under Mayor Adrian Fenty, leading Bank on DC, an economic inclusion initiative aimed at enhancing financial access for low- and moderate-income residents.

With more than a decade of corporate finance experience at BOSCH-USA, General Motors Corporation, and the Detroit Regional Chamber, Kylee brings deep financial strategy expertise to her work. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College – School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Davenport University.

Kylee has been honored by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of Michigan’s “100 Most Influential Women” and by American’s Community Council as their 2023 “Inclusion and Innovation” award recipient. She is also a former National Urban Fellow and a Michigan Political Leadership Program Fellow. As an active community leader, she serves on numerous boards and committees dedicated to financial compliance, social impact, and economic equity. At her core, Kylee is a proud Detroit native, shaped by her education and experiences within Detroit Public Schools.
