Kamilia K. Landrum

Kamilia Landrum is a transformational leader and one of Detroit’s most dynamic voices in community advancement. As the youngest Executive Director in the history of the NAACP Detroit Branch, she leads one of the nation’s most influential branches with vision, strategy, and bold execution. With more than 20 years of service to the Association, Kamilia has championed pivotal social justice efforts—from protecting Affirmative Action in Michigan to advancing Promote the Vote, expanding ballot access for millions.

She drives high-impact partnerships and programming aligned with the NAACP’s five game changers: education, economic sustainability, criminal justice, civic engagement, and health equity. A committed mentor, she has reactivated and strengthened NAACP college chapters nationwide, cultivating the next generation of civil rights leaders.

In her first year as Executive Director, Kamilia brought the 110th NAACP National Convention to Detroit, generating over $11.5 million in economic impact. She also led the historic June Jubilee, commemorating the 60th anniversary of Dr. King’s first “I Have a Dream” speech in Detroit, and for the first time ever, included a combined celebration with the iconic Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner.

A proud Cass Tech alumna, Kamilia holds degrees from Florida A&M University and Wayne State University. She is also a Detroit entrepreneur, founding The GlassDrum, Staged Spaces, and Gift Box Detroit—merging business innovation with community empowerment. Her leadership has earned numerous prestigious honors, cementing her legacy as a powerful force for impact and progress.
