Hon. Latisha Johnson

Latisha Johnson has dedicated more than two decades to serving Detroit through community-focused growth and equitable development. She began her career promoting Detroit as a destination, helping bring significant economic activity to the city during difficult years.

In 2007, driven by a desire to work more closely with residents, she joined the Executive Board of the East English Village Neighborhood Association, contributing seven years to neighborhood revitalization. She later founded MECCA Development Corporation in 2014 to ensure residents had a strong voice as development accelerated citywide.

Johnson has also held key leadership roles, including Treasurer of the 5th Precinct Police/Community Relations Council and Vice Chair of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Elected to Detroit City Council in 2021, she represents District 4 and serves as Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and Vice Chair of the Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee.
