Wingstop to ‘sauce and toss’ wings for The Big Game
Farmington Hills, Mich. – Wingstop, the “Wings Experts”, are prepping for their biggest day of the year expecting to sell more than six million wings at 600 locations across the country on Feb. 2 for Super Sunday! Wingstop expects to be the “fan choice” for wings in Metro Detroit, and are telling people to stick to the sides and leave the wings to the experts. Super Sunday business is expected to be up by 15% this year for the company and if Wingstop reaches its goal this will be the 13th straight year the company has set a Big Game sales record. The franchise experienced lines wrapped around the building in its debut year and anticipates the same, which is why they’re encouraging people to order ahead.
“With the growing demand for wings, we are excited to bring the Wingstop tradition of quality food and service to Metro-Detroit as we gear up for one of the biggest events of the year,” said Dionna Metzler, Wingstop District Manager.
Last year the National Chicken Council projected more than 1.25 billion chicken wings would be consumed during Super Bowl weekend. According to the National Restaurant Association, 48 million Americans get takeout for the game, and 63 percent list chicken wings as their “must-have” snack, surpassing pizza and topped only by dips or spreads.
Ninety percent of Wingstop guests order wings to go on Super Sunday, so Wingstop is encouraging fans to order in advance due to the overwhelming demand for their wings. Guests can call any of the restaurant locations in the Detroit area (Detroit, Southfield, Roseville, Livonia and Warren) to place orders for Super Bowl.
