Wings of Love Ministries Thanksgiving Day Feeding

Pastor Jackson GuestMatthew, 25:35 says, “For when I was hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.”  There are so many people in our surrounding communities who go without food, clothing and shelter. Pastor Alvin E. Jackson Sr. and the Wings of Love Ministries exemplified the true meaning of Matthew 25:35.

On Thanksgiving Day, Pastor Alvin E. Jackson Sr. and the Wings of Love Ministries demonstrated the act of love by enlightening and putting a smile on those faces who continue to deal with the struggle of life by feeding, giving clothing and providing a home-cooked meal in a warm, loving, and spirit filled environment.

Pastor Alvin E. Jackson Sr. the senior pastor of Wings of Love Ministries stated that everyday ought to be a day of Thanksgiving, for “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1Thessalonians 5:18). The church should be the arms and the hands of Christ, aiding, assisting, supporting and strengthening the hungry, thirsty and the less fortunate. If people who are in need can’t find assistance any where else, the church should be a place of refuge to assist in whatever capacity that is needed, and when help is not available from any other source.

Sis. Dorothy Hinton, the president of the feeding ministry at Wings of Love Ministries started this program 3 years ago with the expectation of leaving no one in our community left unfed on Thanksgiving Day, thanks be to God that expectation was met. Our church members from our local assembly gathered together in love as we donated food items, cooked and served our special guest with poise, class and grace. The goal was to make those who are so often forgotten feel appreciated and loved.

Wings of Love Ministries showed their gratitude and thanks to God by blessing others as they continue to live out their church motto, which is “Serving the People with the Community at Heart”. Those serving also received something special from those they served, they were reminded to never to take this God given gift called life for granted and the things that our fellow man do for us.

Their prayer is that Wings of Love Ministries is just not a building located at 17133 John R, Detroit, MI , occuping space, but will continue to be a beacon of light that shines throughout their community, to demonstrate love, hope and encouragement to the believer and the non-believer. They are forever grateful to God for allowing them to be a blessing as they have been blessed by Christ. They do not take it for granted and realize that the one in need could possibly be them or one of their family members.

Wings of Love Ministries recognize that God has kept and sustained them throughout these hard economic times that our city is facing and will forever be thankful to the almighty for allowing them to be a blessing to their fellow man. As Pastor Jackson stated, Wings of Love Ministries will continue to give thanks in everything for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning them.
