Where does Detroit rank for the least faithful city across the nation?
Out of 200 cities across the country, Detroit ranks #27th in a list of cities most likely to be unfaithful. Two metro Detroit cities are high on the list of ones considered to be most faithful according to a study of 200 metro areas by MyDatingAdviser.com.
Per the study, Warren (ranked 26th most faithful in the nation) and Grand Rapids (117th). Their research also identified the most unfaithful city in the state, Detroit (ranked 27th most unfaithful), according to a press release.
When it comes to sex and relationships, cheating can happen. The matchmaking experts at MyDatingAdviser.com put together a list of who cheats, and the results are pretty fascinating.
Everyone may have slightly different definitions for cheating — for example, does flirting under an IG picture or with a hot co-worker count? But there are a few acts or moves people universally consider cheating because they cross the lines of emotional and romantic intimacy: cuddling, spooning, kissing, getting emotionally close with someone you’re attracted to, and of course, intercourse of any kind.
Sometimes, cheating happens because of someone’s temperament or trouble with trusting in relationships. Other times, infidelity is born out of resentment toward your partner, disappointment that your needs aren’t being met, or boredom. Cheating happens because you’ve fallen out of love, where you find yourself feeling more like friends who happen to have sex than partners. Or maybe you’re just not attracted to your partner anymore.
Or maybe, you or your partner were unfaithful thanks to the city you’re living in. No matter which side of it you’re on, infidelity hurts. And looking at MyDatingAdviser.com’s Infidelity Hotlist, these cities have a lot of healing to do.
Amy Pritchett, editor-in-chief at MyDatingAdviser.com, said the data is surprising.
“Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, we calculated something that we’ve dubbed the Infidelity Index for 200 major U.S. cities,” Pritchett said. “The study factored in the population’s relationship satisfaction by looking at marriage, divorce, and separation rates. In addition, the population’s life satisfaction by evaluating emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community. We also looked at the number of venues to meet for an affair, and the volume of searches on Google for affair hookup websites was also considered for the rankings.”
“While most would assume that bigger cities probably produce more cheaters per capita, this data shows us what we were already aware of; cheaters are everywhere, and infidelity can happen anywhere – in large cities and small ones,” Pritchett said.
It’s not singular to Florida, nor is it removed from quieter states like Pennsylvania or Arizona. And for what it’s worth, cheating comes in many forms and may look different for one person than it would for another. It can happen in marriages, emotionally, and just because of sudden circumstances…that have little to do with that person’s current relationship.”

To determine the most unfaithful cities in the nation, MyDatingAdviser.com compared 200 of the largest metro areas across four categories: 1) Relationship Satisfaction, 2) Life Satisfaction, 3) Cheating Intent, and 4) Affair Activities.
They then evaluated each area using nine data points of cheating friendliness. These data points included statistics such as the divorce rate, separation rate, number of cafes and bars, and how often people search for ‘Ashley Madison’ on Google (an online dating website for affairs).
