4th annual Uncle Sam Jam
Woodhaven Civic Center Park
The free family-fun festival takes place in Civic Center Park in the City of Woodhaven (located at I-75 and West Road) during the downriver communities’ Independence holiday celebration. Uncle Sam Jam will feature national rock acts including Mark Farner, Skid Row, and Candlebox as well as several local musicians and bands, attractions for the entire family, a carnival, and much more. DYC Detroit APBA Gold Cup Races
General Admission: Starting at $15
The APBA Gold Cup, officially named the APBA Challenge Cup, is among the most prestigious of motor sport trophies, in part because it is the oldest active trophy in all of motor sports. The trophy was first awarded in 1904. See Unlimited Hydroplanes race at speeds near 200 miles per hour! The Ragtime Street Fair
Greenfield Village
Savor an American original – Ragtime music. You’ll hear Scott Joplin rags like “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer.” But there’s much, much more as scores of other musicians travel from all over the country to perform on multiple stages throughout Greenfield Village. It’s syncopated, jazzy, hot and live. Fresh summer food, too, and dancing in the streets. And we’re open ’til 9 on Saturday night.

 

Outdoor Art Fair-Royal Oak
Memorial Park (Corner of Woodward Avenue & 13 Mile Road)
10am – 6:00pm
The 43rd Annual Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair will be held at Memorial Park (Corner of Woodward Avenue & 13 Mile Road) on Saturday, July 13, 10am – 6:00pm & Sunday, July 14, 10am – 5:00pm. One hundred Michigan and out of state artists will be selling original art work for your home, office, or as a gift. An exciting variety of art offered by these juried artists include ceramics, painting/prints, fiber arts, jewelry, photography, sculpture, wood, glass, leather, and mixed media. A variety of food items will be available. The Art Fair is sponsored by the Royal Oak Department of Recreation & Public Service and the Royal Oak Arts Council. Family Performance: Madcap Puppet Productions presents The Cinderella Files
On Sunday, July 14, the Detroit Institute of Arts will host Madcap Puppet Productions as they put on a family performance called The Cinderella Files. The performance begins at 2 p.m. and is free with museum admission.
