2. 10/21 Rhythm and Blues Night at The Ritz at 9pm 23400 Hoover Rd. Warren, MI Come get the Detroit talent experience! Some of Detroit’s most talented artists are teaming up with Caddy C Entertainment and The Ritz to bring you the entertainment experience you won’t forget! The show will feature JaRay, Detroit’s hottest upcoming artist who was featured on 107.5 FM, and has had his single “Good Love” rotating in several different states! Everybody bring your ballroom and hustle skills! Plus, enjoy the creative and inspiring poetry by the evenings host Valentine. Must be 18 or older and you must show ID. 3. 10/20 100 Black Men: 2012 Excellence Award Gala at the Detroit Marriot Hotel in the Renaissance Center This unprecedented affair will celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of metro Detroit’s most prominent leaders and honor them in the areas of leadership, education, community service, mentoring, economic development and health and wellness. 4. 10/21 Visions of our 44th President This collective art was created to honor and celebrate the significance of the first African American president of the United States, Barack Obama. Forty-four, busts were created from a model that served as a blank canvas, giving each of the 44 artist from across the country free reign to creatively interpret this milestone in American history. The Visions exhibit opens at eh Wright Museum before becoming the museums first national traveling exhibit, visiting prestigious museums, libraries, universities and galleries across the country. At the conclusion of the tour, the exhibit will become a part of the Wright Museum’s permanent collection. 10. 10/19-10/21 Fela: The Man, The Movement, The Music Exhibit at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit Created in partnership with Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts to prelude the arrival of the Broadway smash musical, Fela!, to Music Hall in February, 2012, this exhibition celebrates the life and music of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a dynamic figure who transcended the boundaries of political expectation and culturally coerced standards of morality. Museum times are as follows: Tuesday-Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m; Sunday: 1-5 p.m. Free with museum admission: $8/adults, $5/kids, Free/members and kids under age.
