Wayne State names Ericka M. Jackson Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Erika-JacksonEricka M. Jackson has been named the director of undergraduate admissions for Wayne State University, effective Feb. 29. The appointment was announced by Ahmad M. Ezzeddine, associate vice president of Educational Outreach and International Programs, who oversees Enrollment Management which includes the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Jackson joins the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the Wayne State University Law School, where she was assistant dean of admissions and student affairs. She is a  graduate of Wayne Law and holds a bachelor’s in English from the University of Michigan.

In her new role, Jackson is responsible for planning and directing the recruitment of undergraduate students to Wayne State, as well as developing and implementing processes to achieve the university’s annual and long-term undergraduate enrollment goals. WSU’s enrollment of more than 27,000 students includes nearly 18,000 undergraduates.

“The director of undergraduate admissions is a significant and strategic role that will aid the university in achieving and maintaining stability and operational excellence,” Ezzeddine says. “I am confident that Ericka – with her experience and credentials – is the right person to lead the office.”

Jackson will serve as a key advisor and member of the enrollment management leadership team in the areas of enhanced student experience, undergraduate enrollment planning and management.

Prior to her position in Law admissions, Jackson served three years as associate director of development and director of the Damon J. Keith Law Collection of African-American Legal History at Wayne Law. She also worked as a litigation attorney for seven years at Sommers Schwartz, P.C., and was a senior major gift officer at the University of Michigan.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Wayne State University as director of undergraduate admissions,” Jackson said. “I cannot think of a better time to be a WSU student. I take seriously the charge of leading an admissions office that provides access to an excellent and valuable education in the heart of Detroit.”
