Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans and representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services announced the Wayne County will be hosting two events in early November to help residents enroll in heath care.
“The well-being of Wayne County’s residents ranks high on our list of priorities so we are happy to work with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help our citizens get important information on the Affordable Care Act,” said Evans.
The events are being brought to the public by the Department of Health, Veterans and Community Wellness and are titled “Get Covered Wayne County.”
The Affordable Care Act is now enforcing a more severe penalty to those who fail to enroll in a plan in the coming weeks and months. According to countyhealthrankings.org and Enroll America, Wayne County has nearly 15 percent of its population still uninsured.
“In just a few days, residents who need quality, affordable healthcare coverage will gain access to open-enrollment for their families,” said Evans. “We want to ensure that every Wayne County resident in need of healthcare coverage is connected to the information and the people who can help them make informed decisions about becoming insured.”
Those planning to attend are suggested to bring the following items: information on household size and income, mailing address, social security numbers, tax filing information for each working persons in the home and citizenship documentation.
