As the Fourth of July holiday approaches many families will be looking for ways to enjoy the warm weather and great outdoors. Despite the continued closure of many Wayne County Parks’ amenities and specialized areas, which have remained closed during the spring season to promote proper social distancing, parks remain open to the public for activities such as walking, biking and disc golf.
Saturday in the Park at Hines Park is a great time to enjoy a brisk jog, relaxing bike ride or simply relish in the fresh air and beautiful scenery. From 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. six miles of Hines Drive, from Outer Drive to Ann Arbor Trail, will be closed to vehicular traffic making it an ideal time for families to get active.
Other weekend options include visiting the Inkster Valley Golf Club for a round of golf, launching your boat at the Elizabeth Park Marina and Boat Launch or bringing your furry friends out to enjoy the agility equipment at the Hawthorne Ridge Park Dog Park. After all, our four-legged family members deserve a chance to burn off some energy too! All dogs must be registered at the Wayne County Parks Administrative office.
Patrons are required to adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines outlined on the County website and adhere to posted signage throughout the park system.
Specialized areas that remain closed include:
- All play structures throughout the park system
- Elizabeth Park Pony Rides
- Perrin basketball court
- Warrendale basketball court
- Bell Creek basketball court
- Elizabeth Park Skate park
- Hines Park Bike Park
