Wayne County election highlights

 

eric-sabree-headshot-e14598630592881Wayne County treasurer Eric Sabree defeated challenger Beverly Kindle-Walker in a close race winning 57 percent of the vote.

The win means Sabree will complete the term of former treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz, who retired in December.

Sheriff Benny Napoleon, Clerk Cathy Garrett, Register of Deeds Bernard Youngblood all won their races easily while Prosecutor Kym Worthy was unopposed.

Former Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano garnered enough votes to place him on the November ballot placing 6th in a race that will see the top eight vote-getters advance to the general election. The winners were Thomas Hathaway, Wanda Evans, Melissa Cox, Brian Morrow, Kelly Ramsey, Ficano, Matthew Evans and Regina Thomas.

The parks millage renewal was approved with 76 percent of the vote.

Detroit

Detroit Councilwoman Janeé Ayers won her race Tuesday night to advance to the November general election with 47 percent over four challengers who split the rest of the vote for an at-large seat.

Rev. David Bullock finished second.
