Unique Exhibit Will Be on Display from April 10 – May 9, 2014
Detroit, Mich – Wayne County Community College District’s (WCCCD) School of Continuing Education is pleased to present “Independent Emotions,” an art exhibition by Lenore Gimpert. The opening reception will be held on April 10 at WCCCD’s Western Campus, located at 9555 Haggerty Road in Belleville in the Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery. The exhibition, which is a beautiful collection of floral artwork on oil on canvas and mixed media, can be viewed from April 10, 2014 through May 9, 2014. For more information, please contact Ms. Julie Figlioli at (313) 496-2510(313) 496-2510 or visit the college’s website at www.wcccd.edu.
Gimpert is a graduate of the Center for Creative Studies and has attained both her MA and MFA from Wayne State University. Her strong love of history, particularly the Greek Hellenistic, Baroque and Rococo periods is portrayed in her paintings and drawings. She paints very different subjects, from varied times, with consistent elements of curves, femininity and romance. In her art, she uses various materials and techniques to fuse the old and new. Her sparing use of color serves as a signature accent, to give her work an elegant ancient feeling.
WCCCD presents this exhibit with the intent of providing students and the community with the opportunity to learn about the different techniques in painting, enhance the understanding of how artists create with meaning and provide participants with a unique venue to experience great artwork by outstanding artists.
