Visit Wayne County’s ‘Healthy Lane Expo’ for Good Health at Ribs and R & B Music Festival

Meet Grammy award-winning Singer, Songwriter and Cancer Survivor Angela Winbush

Want to experience world-class entertainment, enjoy great food and learn how you can live a healthier life this weekend?

The Wayne County Health and Human Services Department, in partnership with Wayne County area health leaders and organizations, encourages you to visit its inaugural “Healthy Lane Expo” at the Ribs and R &B Music Festival in Detroit’s Hart Plaza.

Organizations include: Institute for Population Health; Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion; Voices of Detroit Initiative; Detroit Community Health Connection; Midwest Health Plan; ProCare Health Plan, and Community Bridges.

Also participating are Wayne County Health Choice; Health Source; Community Care Associates; Michigan Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program; Karmanos Cancer Institute, and the American Red Cross.

The “Healthy Lane Expo” will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m, Friday-Sunday, to provide attendees with important health information, education and health-related giveaways—all designed to help improve the health and well-being of Wayne County residents. Representatives will also work towards increasing community awareness of the Affordable Care Act.

Grammy award-winning R & B recording star and health advocate Angela Winbush will visit “Healthy Lane” for a celebrity meet-and-greet autograph event, Sunday, 6 -7 p.m., before taking the main stage at 8 p.m. for a performance of her greatest hits.

Winbush, a stage III ovarian cancer survivor who underwent chemotherapy, will spread the inspirational and educational message of early detection, the importance of regular health screenings and proactive attitudes to successfully treat serious medical conditions and save lives.

Among the weekend’s musical headliners are: The Mary Jane Girls featuring Val Young; Detroit’s own Enchantment; Duane Parham “the Saxman” and Friends; Orthea Barnes and the Gospel Divas, and British R & B band Loose Ends, featuring vocalist Jane Eugene.
