United Parcel Service announced Monday it plans to hire more than 600 seasonal employees in metro Detroit before the start of the holiday season.
UPS officials say they are interested in hiring around 666 season employees. The process will begin in October and continue through January.
Tractor-trailer and package car driver jobs start at $21 per hour and package handler positions start at $14.50 per hour. Personal vehicle drivers will make $21 an hour plus 57.5 cents per mile.
According to UPS, there are 172 package handlers, 82 package car driver positions, and 41 personal vehicle drivers.
In September, the company said it predicts a record number of postal requests from holiday shoppers looking to purchase gifts online.
The facility is on Schoolcraft in Livonia.
