United Way for Southeastern Michigan is encouraging people to spend time volunteering, in addition to making financial donations on Giving Tuesday. Masco has generously agreed to match all donations up to $25,000 for the annual impact day, which helps families locally and across the country.

Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, United Way for Southeastern Michigan is encouraging people across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties to take a moment to give back on Giving Tuesday and throughout the holiday season. Nearly 40 percent of families struggle to meet their basic needs. There is a lot of focus on financial contributions (which are important and needed), but United Way is also bringing attention to the need for volunteers. This is especially important as we enter the holiday season and there are still so many families struggling to make ends meet with food, housing and childcare. Community contributions can make even more of an impact to help these families.

United Way has set ambitious goals of 40,000 hours of volunteer time and $40 million in donations raised through individual, corporate and philanthropic community contributions.

As many may know, Giving Tuesday is meant to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back to the charities and causes they care about.
