‘Underrated’ Raheem DeVaughn Suggests Some Artists Are Overrated

He’s been serenading music fans for years with love medleys that truly exemplifies the essence of true R&B and soul.

Raheem DeVaughn’s debut album, The Love Experience, reached No. 46 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. The album featured the singles “Guess Who Loves You More” and “You”.

The New Jersey native who is out with his latest album, The Summer of Love,  is still packing out concert venues with loyal audiences, will be performing in Detroit at The Aretha Amphitheatre, Wednesday evening.

DeVaughn, didn’t mince words when he weighed-in being typecast and where he stands in his artistry compared to others.

“I hear a lot of people say that I’m probably the most underrated artist of my time,” DeVaughn said. “Some may argue though you just have a lot of people that are overrated. I’d rather be the guy that’s labeled underrated than overrated. I never want to be the guy that’s overrated.”

He sat down in STUDIO 1452 with the co-hosts of “Finally, Friday!” at Michigan Chronicle where he talked music, podcasting, the state of R&B music, and more!
