Trump objects to Michigan recount, we object to Trump

nbc-fires-donald-trump-after-he-calls-mexicans-rapists-and-drug-runnersSo Donald Trump and his team of lawyers object to Green party candidate Jill Stein’s recount. Not exactly a shocker.
If the popular vote counts for anything, which it should, it appears most Americans who voted object to Trump. Last I heard, according to Politico, Hillary Clinton leads Trump by more than 2 million in the popular vote. Not that this phases the Tweeter-In-Chief who insists that it’s all lies because he would be the true victor if you discounted all those millions who voted illegally. Proof? Who needs proof? Remember who we’re talking about here.
Here’s the thing; the likelihood of Trump having his presidency snatched away, regardless of the outcome of the recount, is about as likely as Trump understanding the meaning of the word ‘fact’. As thrilling as it would be to see the White House door slammed in his face, we might as well get our belts tightened for the bumpy ride ahead.
Still, facts do matter. And if the facts do indeed show that in Michigan – and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania – something was  truly amiss with the vote count, then that’s something worth knowing. Sure, some would prefer we just accept it, get over it, and move on. Just like they would prefer we ignore the reality of voter suppression that shut down 868 polling places, most of them in highly Democratic and/or non-white areas. Which was easy to do once the Voting Rights Act was gutted.
So no. We won’t get over it. Instead, we will gather the facts. Lots of them. And we will use them like weapons. Repeatedly, precisely, and without mercy.
