Wasn’t that long ago when Democrats were sweating buckets as they watched Donald Trump appear to surge in the polls. Some even said that the race had become neck-and-neck, causing pundits and other professional speculators to ponder round-the-clock what had caused Hillary to drop so far. Maybe it was the emails. Or…something. Nobody was quite sure what. Now, according to a recent Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll, Clinton appears to be 11 points ahead of Trump in Michigan.
Then again, it wasn’t that long ago when Hillary was a fair distance ahead of Trump. Then she dropped. And now she’s back up again. Speculators are speculating that possibly this has something to do with how well she stomped Trump during the debate. Or maybe it’s because Trump’s tax situation is bothering folks. Or maybe it’s because this time his craziness is really starting to get on folks’ nerves.
Then again one more time, one has to wonder how these polls are see-sawing back and forth so frequently this close to Election Day when most voters have already made up their minds about who they’re voting for – if they’re going to vote at all. Just makes one wonder if somebody is perhaps breathlessly broadcasting the results of a horse race from an empty track.
Time will tell wether this race was ever as neck-an-neck as some seem to think – or want us to believe.
