
In the last two weeks, more than 7,000 additional Detroit residents have signed up to receive free emergency alerts from the City of Detroit through the Nixle emergency alert notification system. After reminding residents they can sign up to receive the free alerts, the number of registered residents has increased to 17,238. City of Detroit residents can receive alerts regarding various emergency situations within the city.
To sign up for this free service, residents should simply TEXT the word “DETROIT” in the message box to the number 888777. Interested residents can also visit the Detroit Homeland Security & Emergency Management website at www.detroitmi.gov/dhsem and click on Nixle Emergency Alerts, or visit the DHSEM Facebook page at https://facebook.com/detroithsem/.
