These Women Got Game and are Showing Others How to Play

Letta J and Keshia Walker, two women of color, are forging a path for themselves in the esports realm through Soho Gaming House and COEXIST Gaming, Black Enterprise reported.

Also ESPN hosted a conversation about race and diversity in esports and gaming.

AfroTech originally reported that Letta J and Walker said online hate speech and bullying tactics have become more mainstream as video game streaming opportunities have thrived.  Letta J runs Soho Gaming House in New York City, and created a positive place for women in esports. COEXIST Gaming supports gamers who are interested in opportunity and growth, according to the article. This space was created by Letta J and Daniel (Sem).

“In a male-dominated field such as ours, it’s important to create a solution, especially if the problem directly negatively affects you,” Letta J told AfroTech.

Walker, the founder of Women Got Game Summit, is a gaming legend who experienced various levels of racism and marginalization throughout her lengthy career.
