The Supposed War On Christmas: Starbucks Vs. Dunkin Doughnuts

DunkinDoughnutsAs the “Great Christmas Coffee Cup Controversy of 2015” continues to brew, Dunkin’ Doughnut has now entered the ring to put a little Christmas “Joy” back into the all important Christmas cup marketing game.

The Starbuck competitor has released a line of holiday cups featuring the word “Joy” surrounded by images of wreaths and holly — the launch comes as Starbucks continues to be blasted for their coffee containers, which feature an all-red design adorned with only their logo.
The controversy began when instead of the usual array of decorative images such as Christmas trees and snowflakes that have decorated the coffee cups in holidays past, the corporation has chosen to take a more minimal approach and made the cups a simple red with their green and white logo.

A group of Christian evangelists gripes, “Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus,” said Joshua Feuerstein in a viral Facebook post that garnered nearly 10.5 million views since Thursday.
“This year we wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories,” said Starbucks’ Vice President of Design & Content Jeffrey Fields.
“We’re embracing the simplicity and the quietness of it.”
