At the height of the seasonal change and the upcoming holiday season, organizations like Our Little Big World of Ferndale, MI and Pure Heart Foundation of Detroit, MI has gathered to create a magical world of free gift giving, warm meals and a youth version of Painting With a Twist. On December 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., The Paint and Play Santa Brunch, will be held at Our Little Big World located at 310 Livernois in Ferndale.
While there are a baffling 25 percent of homeless children within the metro Detroit area, Little Big World and Pure Heart Foundation has a new approach to match families with children who are in need of just one day to feel loved and encouraged. These organizations have made it possible to secure many deserving children with the winter holiday necessities for the upcoming year. In addition, children of incarcerated parents are able to connect and bond through art with other children experiencing similar situations.
Pure Heart is a non profit organization that offers emotional learning, therapeutic experiences for children of incarcerated parents. Our Little Big World is an organization designed for children and their parents to “Play, Educate, and Grow” together through free play, classes, guided activities and events.
“This is the first event of it’s kind, said Kandis El, founder and owner of Our Little Big World. “Because of the playhouse we will get to celebrate with over 100 children and parents”, she continued.
This year’s Paint and Play Santa Brunch will include Santa and his elves, a full chicken and waffle breakfast, seven playrooms with different cultural experiences, a magic show, and a host of gifts.
