DIR is pleased to announce its 20th annual “Best Practices in Supplier Diversity Strategies and Initiatives” seminar being held on August 18-20, 2015 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. In celebration, DIR will host a luncheon (tickets available) featuring long-time civil rights advocate Eric H. Holder, Jr., recently retired from his service as U.S. Attorney General, on August 19, 2015, also at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. Mr. Holder will speak to supplier diversity industry professionals and diverse-owned suppliers, many of whom continue to contribute to Detroit’s urban and economic renaissance.
DIR’s seminar is attended by Supplier Diversity Directors and Managers, Purchasing Managers and Buyers, SBLOs and others involved in implementing and evaluating supplier diversity initiatives. On August 18th, an in-depth SBLO training is returning by popular demand. About The Honorable Eric H. Holder, Jr.
Before Holder served as the U.S. Attorney General, he was a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and a United States Attorney. He was senior legal advisor to Barack Obama during Obama’s presidential campaign. Holder is a staunch proponent of defending the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which was reauthorized in 2006. He supports comprehensive immigration reform, and in 2011, he announced that the Department of Justice would no longer defend cases involving the Defense of Marriage Act in court. In 2014, Holder unveiled a new policy banning profiling on the basis of religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity by federal law enforcement agencies.
