Detroit-groomed business partners unite for the highly anticipated 3rd Annual Tux & Chucks fundraising celebration. Not just a traditional bash, four local organizations benefit from a portion of the proceeds. Tux and Chucks is Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 9 p.m. – until 2 a.m. at Bert’s Warehouse Theater (Eastern Market) located at 2739 Russell St. in Detroit. The theater will be transformed into a grandeur space of elegance and sophistication to set the ambiance for this year’s event. While some grow weary with the traditional social scene, this event is a philanthropic journey infused with décor, cuisine, style, and entertainment. With a goal to surpass the $10,000 raised last year, this 21 and up fundraising event is sure to stir up attention within the eyes of many who criticize Detroit’s for its ongoing negative news.

By giving back to Project P.I.N.K (https://goprojectpink.org/), S.A.F.E. (Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (https://www.newsafestart.org/), The Fit Foundation of America (https://networkingout.com/) and Detroit Young Professionals (https://www.detroityoungprofessionals.org/), these city-natives have awakened a vision they hope will expand to all major cities in the U.S. “We would like to see the event growing annually, which would enable us to give more back to local organizations. It would also allow our sponsors to expand their respective businesses,” Suggs says.

An aura of energetic sophistication will fill the atmosphere, guaranteeing smiles, laughter and simply put, a good time! Local spin master DJ M.I.X. and The Brandon William’s Experience band will provide music as patrons enjoy hors d’ oeuvres and open bar from 9pm until midnight sponsored by Beam Global. “This is our contribution to the city of Detroit. They [organizations] have great mission statements and just don’t have the funds. We’re one of Detroit’s gems as it resurfaces. We put the capital F-U-N in ‘fundraiser,” Appling says.

Tux and Chucks’ 2011 debut brought more than 400 patrons, with 2012’s event locking in nearly 700. Attire is cocktail chic so put to use that tuxedo, suit, cocktail dress and most importantly Chuck Taylor gym shoes planted in your closet, and network with some of Detroit’s professionals? Uber is the official transportation sponsor of Tux & Chucks 2013. Sign up to get up to a $25 discount when using the promo code “tuxchucks2013.”
