TCF National Bank today celebrated the grand opening of its new banking center in the Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood of Detroit. The new facility, located at 19600 Grand River Avenue, is the newest regional bank to open in this west side neighborhood.
The banking center is part of TCF’s $5 million investment into the Grandmont Rosedale area, which is among seven neighborhoods under the city of Detroit’s Strategic Neighborhood Fund, a $35 million commitment from multiple corporations, each vowing to invest in the enhancement of neighborhoods across the city.
“We recognize that strong neighborhoods are essential to the vibrancy of a great city. As Detroit’s hometown bank, we are so proud to partner with the small businesses and residents that make Grandmont Rosedale special,” said TCF Executive Chairman Gary Torgow. “We are excited to bring this special community a new banking center that offers the financial services that the customers want, need, and deserve.”
As a continued show of support to this community, TCF presented the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation with a $25,000 donation to support the organization’s community initiatives. In the months ahead, TCF will also expand its physical presence in Grandmont Rosedale with a new community facility next to the banking center. Residents and businesses in the area will have full use of the facility for meetings and events.
“The partnership that TCF has established with Grandmont Rosedale fits perfectly into our vision for the Strategic Neighborhood Fund,” said Mayor Mike Duggan. “The addition of the new TCF banking center in this neighborhood is another example of TCF’s larger commitment to investing in our city and providing Detroiters greater opportunity to access financial resources.”
TCF’s commitment to Grandmont Rosedale includes streetscape improvements, affordable housing, and business corridor development. In addition to the initial investment, TCF contributed funding towards a new S.T.E.M. Lab at Cooke Elementary School, playground updates for special-needs accessibility, park benches, block club beautification grants, and other improvements in this neighborhood.
“I know TCF is committed to Grandmont Rosedale’s revitalization because of the personal engagement we have with leaders from the bank,” said Dante Williams, owner of Cutz Lounge The Grooming Shop, and president of the Grand River Business Association. “As a current resident and owner of a small business in Grandmont Rosedale, I am looking forward to doing business with a bank that cares so much about the community where I live and work.”
