Name: Taylor Carter
College: Michigan State University
What excites you most about going to college?
Being able to learn about new things and concepts.
What does BLM mean to you as a new Black college student?
It means being included. Bringing awareness, affirmative action, and additional support considering my background. I’m apart of the James Madison program and they’re actively looking to change the name considering his history of slavery. That lets me know people are taking BLM seriously.
What is your advice for current High School students?
No matter how dull things look, find the bright side. At the end of this dark tunnel, there is light.
Personal Statement
I would like to say thank you and that high school had it’s ups and downs for me. But I always kept in hindsight what my goals were. It’s imperative to remember that at every tunnel at the end there is light.
