Tamponpalooza Tackles Taboos in Detroit

Tamponpalooza, a one-day event designed to spark open conversations and celebrate periods, is coming to the city on March 23rd, 2024.

Organized by Ken Brass, a local community activist and host of the open mic night Soundoff Sundays, Tamponpalooza aims to challenge societal norms and foster a supportive environment around women’s health. The event promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with art installations, a fashion show, and performances by local artists.

“We believe women shouldn’t have to compromise their dignity and confidence when managing their periods,” said KrysP, one of the event’s organizers. “Tamponpalooza is about empowering individuals to embrace their bodies and advocate for menstrual equity.”

This inclusive event welcomes everyone, regardless of gender or age, to join the conversation and celebrate period health. Admission is free with a donation of feminine hygiene products or a $10 entry fee. The event will follow all local health and safety guidelines.
