The mother and aunt of suspected baby killer De’Marquise Elkins (pictured) were arrested Tuesday on charges that they lied to police, The Atlanta Journal-Constitutional reports[1]. De’Marquise, 17, is charged with killing 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in a shooting in Brunswick, Ga., last Thursday. Another teen, Dominique Lang, 15, was also charged in connection with the shooting. Katrina Elkins, 36, (pictured), the teen’s aunt, and Karimah Elkins, 33, his mother, gave police information that helped lead investigators to a small pond where they found a handgun, Glynn County police Chief Matt Doering told the Associated Press. De’Marquise’s aunt said publicly that her nephew was at home eating breakfast during the time of the shooting and could not have killed the baby, according to the Journal-Constitution.
