Supreme Transitions is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its Life Resource Center on August 17, 2024, marking a significant step forward in providing exceptional advocacy and support services to victims of domestic violence and non-intimate partner sexual assault. Located in the heart of Detroit, Supreme Transitions is dedicated to offering comprehensive resources to individuals in need, with a special focus on Black LGBTQ+ victim services. This new center represents a milestone in the organization’s mission to empower survivors and foster a safer, healthier community.
A Mission to Empower and Protect
Supreme Transitions is more than just a resource center; it is a sanctuary for those who have endured the trauma of domestic violence, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. The organization’s mission is rooted in providing culturally specific, trauma-informed services tailored to the unique needs of the Black community. With a commitment to helping individuals transition to safer, more independent lives, Supreme Transitions aims to be a pillar of strength for survivors in Detroit.
Unique to Supreme Transitions are its non-traditional healing group sessions, held monthly and facilitated by certified, licensed, or professional industry leaders. These sessions are complemented by traditional healing services, available upon request, and are designed to provide holistic support to survivors. Additionally, the organization regularly hosts in-person advocacy appointments and empowerment conferences, ensuring that survivors have access to the resources they need in a manner that respects their individual preferences.
Supreme Transitions also connects with the community through its podcast, “The Single Mommy Hustle,” which features discussions with community partners, service providers, activists, and survivors. This platform amplifies the voices of those affected by DV/SA/IPV and highlights the programs and services available to them within the community.
Ericka Murria: A Visionary Leader
The driving force behind Supreme Transitions is Ericka Murria, a survivor turned advocate whose 14-year journey has been marked by resilience and a steadfast commitment to justice. Ericka’s involvement in various task forces, cohorts, and advocacy projects across Detroit and the broader Black community reflects her dedication to making meaningful change. As a single mother of two daughters, Ericka’s personal story was brought to the national stage in the award-winning HBO documentary “I Am Evidence,” where she was featured as a luminary. Her vision for Supreme Transitions is to provide community members with the essential resources they need to rebuild their lives, and her leadership continues to inspire and guide the organization’s mission.
