The Michigan State Spartans had a week off with a bye this past Saturday. They were able to take time to reflect on their big upset against Wisconsin but more importantly prepare for their next task of taking down in-state rival Michigan, who is currently ranked #4 in the nation.

In their previous game, MSU came up big to end their four game losing streak by upsetting the Wisconsin Badgers at Spartan Stadium. It took two overtimes to do it but MSU was victorious in the end to make it a joyful homecoming for students and alum. After Jacoby Windmon of Michigan State forced a fumble by Braelon Allen of Wisconsin in the second OT and ending the Badgers drive in that period, the Spartans Payton Thorne connected with wide receiver Jayden Reed in the end zone to give MSU the 34-28 triumph. The win moves the Spartans to 3-4 on the season.

This week’s challenge to defeat Michigan in the annual in-state rivalry game won’t come easy for State. Despite Head Coach Mel Tucker leading the Spartans to wins the past two years against the Wolverines, #4 ranked Michigan is 7-0 and has dominated in nearly all their contests this season. Michigan State is the underdog for this game that will be in Ann Arbor under the lights, with Michigan favored by 21 points.
