Signing Off: WWJ Reporter Vickie Thomas Retires April 29

WWJ reporter Vickie Thomas recently announced her retirement on social media and The Detroit News reported recently that the award-winning longtime WWJ-AM (950) is officially retiring later this month on April 29.

“It’s been an amazing ride working with the outstanding professionals at WWJ … the BEST news team around!” the longtime broadcaster tweeted. “I’ve truly been blessed!!”

Thomas is a city beat reporter at WWJ, and has collaborated with the Michigan Chronicle throughout the years including the recurring Pancakes & Polictics events where she moderated. While Thomas has her last day on air on April 29 she will continue a weekly podcast, “Black Business Minute,” according to the article.

Thomas joined the station in 1991, according to the article.
