When your calling comes knocking at the door, you answer it, and that’s just what founder, Jennyfer Crawford, also known as Ask Jennyfer, did in 2012 when she came up with the idea for “All Things Detroit.” What started as a pamper party in her apartment quickly grew into a semi-annual small business shopping experience in Eastern Market that has seen more than 13,000 patrons at one time. Keeping the growth momentum going strong, Crawford is proud to announce that All Things Detroit will now have a national holiday, “National All Things Detroit Day,” which will be the Sunday before Easter every year. This year’s date is Sunday, April 5.
“All Things Detroit is about people and their stories,” said Crawford. “I wanted to create a space where you are meeting so many different people from so many places, and you’re building a following. It’s more than just a one-day sale.”
Crawford makes all of this possible through her “All Things Detroit” app, seller marketplace and her “Ask Jennyfer” personalized consulting services, which includes helping interested business owners launch a website, create a logo, order business cards and more.
A benefit to vendors and customers alike, this year’s National All Things Detroit Day will feature 260 vendors selling everything from one-of-a-kind pieces of art, jewelry, and clothing to food, plants, skincare, face painting, fun for kids and more. Additionally, a shuttle will be provided to take patrons on a whiskey tour and to businesses in the area who are offering discounts as high as 80%. The highest discounts will be provided during the beat the crowd hour (9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.). There are even exclusive partnerships in the works to make this year’s event like no other. Think black Friday, but black Sunday, and for small, local businesses.
“My favorite part about All Things Detroit is the people,” said Crawford. “All of these people have amazing stories, and they are investing everything into what they love which makes their products and the shopping experience unique.”
