Seventh Annual Wright Gala Explores “Kaleidoscope of Human Color”

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (The Wright Museum) presents the seventh annual Wright Gala on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017. Themed “Kaleidoscope of Human Color,” this event will bring together the diversity in human cultures and colors while highlighting Detroit’s resilience and rich history.
The Wright Gala will take place at the museum, located at 315 East Warren Avenue in Detroit. The event will begin at 7 p.m. with a VIP cocktail reception, followed by hors d’oeuvres, a delicious sit-down dinner catered by Andiamo, an open bar, a live auction, live entertainment, and a REMIX after party, which begins at 10 p.m. The evening’s attire will be black tie.
Every year The Wright Gala celebrates the museum’s dedication and service to the community. Proceeds from the gala directly support The Wright Museum’s ongoing educational programming, like Camp Africa — a free camp that offers academic, cultural, and artistic enrichment for Detroit’s youth. “The Wright Gala is more than the social event of the season — it’s a critical fundraiser that ensures the museum is able to provide inspiring and enlightening experiences for generations to come,” said Juanita Moore,
“The Wright Gala is more than the social event of the season — it’s a critical fundraiser that ensures the museum is able to provide inspiring and enlightening experiences for generations to come,” said Juanita Moore, president and CEO for The Wright Museum.
Gala attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to view the museum’s nationally-recognized exhibition Say It Loud: Art, History, Rebellion, which commemorates the 1967 Detroit Rebellion. The exhibition features powerful artwork from local and national artists that interpret political, social and economic injustices faced by African Americans from 1967 to today.
Individual tickets are $425 per person. A Benefactor 2-ticket package is $2,000 and includes two tickets for the evening and two museum memberships. Both ticket levels include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, seated dinner, live auction, and access to the after party. REMIX tickets are $100 per person and allow purchasers to join the after party at 10 p.m., which will include light bites, specialty cocktails, music and dancing.
