Second Ebenezer Church Opens Doors to Opportunity at 26th Annual College and Trade Fair This Saturday

The doors of Second Ebenezer Church are open once again, not just as an entrance but as a launchpad for dreams. On Saturday, February 22, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the church will transform into a hub of possibility as students and families step into the 26th Annual College and Trade Fair. Located at 14601 Dequindre Road, this highly anticipated event promises a pathway to higher education and thriving careers, igniting futures one opportunity at a time.

This fair is an important part of the church’s mission to inspire and support young people. It has the ability to change many lives and create a positive impact that will be felt throughout the community. For more than twenty years, it has been a source of hope, helping young minds explore brighter futures and new opportunities.

Since its inception in 1998, the College and Trade Fair has made a significant impact, reaching over 25,000 students and awarding more than $350,000 in scholarships. This year, representatives from over 50 colleges and universities, including historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and multiple trade schools, will be present to guide students on their academic and career journeys.

Bishop Edgar L. Vann, lead pastor of Second Ebenezer Church, emphasized the event’s role in creating a brighter future.

“Second Ebenezer remains committed to fostering educational opportunities that shape the leaders of tomorrow,” Bishop Vann said.

“This signature event has historically provided access to colleges, universities, HBCUs, and skilled trade opportunities to inspire young people. It also offers essential financial resources to help raise their quality of life and propel opportunity.”

Event Highlights:

  • On-Site College Admissions – High school seniors will have the opportunity to apply for admission on the spot. To prepare ahead of time and for their chances, students should bring copies of their transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, and three letters of recommendation.
  • Scholarship InformationScholarship experts will be available throughout the event to provide details on various scholarships, ensuring students and parents are prepared with financial aid resources.
  • Trade School & Career Exploration  – Representatives from job corps, the military, energy companies, cosmetology schools, broadcasting, and civil service organizations will offer insights into alternative career paths.
  • Exciting Giveaways – Attendees will have the chance to win valuable prizes throughout the event.
