Roger Lennert: A life to be remembered and celebrated

01af10bFamily, friends and colleagues of Roger Stephen Lennert will gather for a celebration of life service on Friday, Sept. 25 at Legal Aid and Defender Association at 613 Abbott Street. Roger, a beloved advocate for social justice passed away after on Sept. 7, at his home in Detroit, after a valiantly fought battle with cancer.

Roger, formerly the executive director of Detroit Bar Association, enthusiastically served as vice president of marketing and development for Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc until the time of his death.

He is fondly remembered for his loyalty to Detroit, his dedication to improving of race relations and his love of motor cycle road trips.

He is survived by: his wife, Cynthia Ellison; his sister and her husband, Linda and James Heffernan of Chapel Hill, NC; his sister-in-law, Susan Lennert, widow of his late brother, David Lennert, of Cincinnati, OH; and six nephews and nieces; Paul, Mark and Michael, David, Jill and Angela, and 16 grand nieces and nephews.

Roger is also noted for winning the Ford Motor Company’s city wide contest for naming the Renaissance Center.
Please join family, friends and a host of supporters whose lives he touched though his tireless devotion to improving the quality of life for Detroiters.

The celebration of life service will take place on Friday, Sept. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Legal Aid and Defender Inc, 613 Abbott Street in Detroit.
