Rocki’s Reality Debuts New Season with Pre-Black Friday Artists Showcase

DETROIT — Rocki’s Reality celebrates an all-new season with the Pre-Black Friday Artists Showcase on Thursday, November 17, 6-10 p.m., at CO.OLOGY located at 18940 E. Nine Rd in Eastpointe. Guests in person and viewers online will experience the dynamic artistry of Sydney G. James, Phil “Fresh” Simpson, Benreadygraphics, Reg Cybernetics, Ashley McFadden, Jasmine Graham and CaCa’s Canvases. Rocki’s Reality will simulcast live 7-9 p.m., on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, with a roundtable discussion as the artists share about their respective careers and upcoming projects.

“This showcase is a long time vision that has finally come to fruition. I’m grateful to feature globally renowned artists such as Sydney and Phil, while also highlighting dope artists like Reg and my hubby, Benreadygraphics,” says host and producer of Rocki’s Reality, Raquelle “Rocki” Harris. “We’ve come together to uplift each other and our city, by helping Art Road continue its mission for kids who attend Detroit schools.”

“Detroit is a petri dish of artists of all skills and techniques. This showcase will highlight artists spanning 30 years. I love it and I’m here for it,” adds founder of Benreadygraphics, Ben Harris.

Guests who attend in person can buy some of the art on display for their holiday gifting, or existing art collection. They will also enjoy sounds from DJ Ric Flair, small plates from Le Petit Dejeuner, fresh organic juices from Essential Thingz LLC and sweet treats from Flavor For The Soul and The Better Detroit Brownie Co. Those over the age of 21 can enjoy complimentary cocktails from Duke & Dame Whiskey.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite; slightly higher at the door. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Art Road, a nonprofit organization that provides art classes to students from Detroit area schools. This is a party with the purpose of shaping future generations.

“As an artist that grew up in a school where the art program was defunded, it’s such an honor to be a part of something that could alter that reality for so many more young artists just like me,” says Jessica James of CaCa’s Canvases. Carol Hofgartner, founder and executive director of Art Road, who will display some of her students’ art work at the showcase, echoes James’ sentiment. “This showcase means the world to us. It’s a collective of dope Detroit artists coming together to harness the power of their own art and in turn, making art class possible for the next generation of Detroit creatives. As our art students say: Art is Life, Art is Everything, Art is Forever!” The Pre-Black Friday Artists Showcase is open to art lovers of all ages.
