ATLANTA — Prolific producer Will Packer is beginning to pocket hit movies like so many nickels and dimes. The first Atlanta-based incarnation of the Ride Along franchise became a certified blockbuster, ringing up more than $100 million at the box office and further cementing Packer’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after hitmakers.
Therefore, by an unwritten Hollywood bylaw, you are required to do a sequel when you stack the bundles so high in the first film, much to the delight of fans of Packer films and of Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.
With media members and VIP celebrity guests situated in the comfortable confines of the VIP lounge section of the Atlantic Regal Cinemas in Midtown Atanta, treated to libations, Packer presented his 15th premiere in the ATL. He brought up two of the stars of the film, Tika Sumpter and Sherri Shepherd, to help present Ride Along 2
Allied Media brought along a potpourri of celebrities, including “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” star Stevie J, “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton and Demetria McKinney, producer Roger Bobb, syndicated radio show host Rickey Smiley, comedian Rodney Perry, “Atlanta Exes” star Monyetta Shaw and others.
