“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and E!’s “Fashion Police” star Nene Leakes is in arrears to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for more than three-quarters of a billion dollars in back taxes dating back to 2014 — and had better pay up soon.
Leakes, whose real name is Linnethia Monique Leakes, reportedly owes the Internal Revenue Service more than $830,000 in taxes, the Daily Mail reported Thursday.
Leakes, 48, was recently hit with a Federal Tax Lien in an Atlanta court and they are threatening to seize her assets unless the versatile TV personality reconciles this vast debt.
According to the Mail, On July 22, 2016, the IRS filed a tax lien for a total of $824,366.01 in back taxes for the year 2014. If you recall, 2014 was a financial windfall for Leakes. In addition to being the highest paid reality star on air that year, she appeared on the 18th season of “Dancing with the Stars,” launched her ‘NeNe Leakes Collection’ on the HSN, and in made her Broadway debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, among other ventures.
The only problem is that Leakes (and her husband) failed to set aside a large stack for the IRS and now they’ve sent their agents to come collect.
It doesn’t help that Leakes just flossed her brand new $2 million, six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 9,511 square foot family mansion in Duluth, Ga., a prosperous suburb north of Atlanta.
Leakes was not available for comment to the reports. She is currently on tour with her comedy show and appropriating her attention on her HSN line and network game show appearances.
