Rep. Lawrence welcomes Detroit Auto Show to Michigan’s 14th District

brenda lawrenceRep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) released a statement regarding the North American International Auto Show, which begins today at Cobo Center in Michigan’s 14th Congressional District. The congresswoman and several of her colleagues in the Michigan delegation will kickoff the start of the nation’s largest international auto show with a tour on Monday, Jan. 11.

“I am extremely proud to see the North American International Auto Show return to my Congressional District to celebrate the best that the auto industry has to offer. The American auto industry has made amazing strides, including last year’s record breaking car sales that capped a six-year growth streak — one we haven’t seen since World War II.  Federal investment in our auto industry has clearly succeeded as it has been fully repaid and yielded an additional $2.4 billion in profits. More than half a million jobs have been created and automakers are now able to shift their focus to high tech industry growth in Metropolitan Detroit. The auto industry is clearly a major contributor in Detroit becoming America’s greatest comeback story.”
