Two people a lot of us get tired of seeing, reading about and hearing about with regard to their “temper malfunctions” are Kanye West and Chris Brown.
Seems every time you turn around one of them, or both, are involved in some sort of physical altercation or at least a verbal confrontation of one type or another.
The problem is that Brown and West have short fuses — which they need to seriously work on — and there are people out there, including many in the media, who take great pleasure in pushing their buttons.
Unfortunately, they regularly respond exactly as the instigators want them to. Then come the headlines, thus adding to the public perception that they are very often out of control.
Let’s hope they don’t get mad at each other!
SINCE I was home on the King holiday, I watched “The View” for about 15 minutes. (Joy Bahar is sorely missed).
The guest co-host that day was Fantasia, and I couldn’t get over how good she looked, improved in every way — dress, hair, makeup, teeth, etc.
My guess is that the season three “American Idol” winner hired a top-of-the-line stylist to help her take it all to the next level.
CHARLIE WILSON, 61, former lead singer of the Gap Band who manages to hold on to his “30 and up” fan base and also attract a respectable amount of interest from many of those younger, is obviously not taking any chances regarding the album he is recording right now.
Wilson is working with a virtual plethora of hot producers and songwriters, including Pharrell Williams, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Justin Timberlake, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Kanye West!
“I definitely want to be true to what made me,” Wilson said, adding, “and we can sprout from there!”
By the way, Wilson refers to all of the gentlemen we just named as his “nephews,” in connections with his nickname, “Uncle Charlie,” given to him by, of all people, Snoop Dogg. Wilson also had an album titled “Uncle Charlie.”
JANET JACKSON has been pretty much under the radar since marrying Wissam Al Mana, the wealthy businessman from Qatar, located in eastern Arabia in the southwest Persian Gulf. They live in Qatar.
Maybe Jackson is focusing on solidifying the marriage. Let’s hope he is modern in his thinking, less inclined to be sexist as Muslim men tend to be.
Kim Coles, comedienne-actress, made me chuckle when she said the older she gets (she’s 52) the less she is interested in watching music award shows.
“I don’t know who most of those people are, and I don’t want to see twerking and tattoos,” she said. “I want to see Frankie Beverly & Maze and Earth, Wind & Fire. They could even add another element — Earth, Wind, Fire & Plastic!”
JIMMY FALLON, takes over from Jay Leno as the host of “The Tonight Show” on Feb. 17. His first guests will be Will Smith and U2. Success seems likely for Fallon, who is talented, funny and likable.
Hosting a late-night talk/entertainment show five nights a week is extremely challenging. So many have failed, including Chevy Chase, Sinbad, Pat Sajak, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Joan Rivers, Magic Johnson and Craig Kilborn.
Soulful George Michael, who has been on national R&B charts 15 times with songs like “One More Try,” “Father Figure,” “Careless Whisper” and “I Want Your Sex,” has a new album scheduled for March 17 release titled “Symphonica.”
A young comedian named Brando Murphy is reportedly telling people that Eddie Murphy is his father. Eddie says he is not. What adds credence to the charge is that Brando changed his last name to Murphy.
BETCHA DIDN’T KNOW…that Barry White was only 11 years old when he played piano on Jesse Belvin’s 1956 hit “Goodnight My Love (Pleasant Dreams).”
